Earlier today, someone from the Shame Lion Killer Facebook group shared an article from Daily Mail about Prince William vowing to destroy all of the Queen's ivory collection to set an example for others. There were great excitement to being with but as we passed it off to our team of contributors to research more on it, it was noted that the timestamp was from 2014. Thinking that this is old news, we decided to look up more information and found nothing published on the prince following through on it and that this was likely to be a PR stunt for the royal family to appear relevant and justify their existence in an age of post monarchy and democratic republicanism.
Had His majestry Prince William actually pull off the stunt, the would've been follow up articles reported all over the internet and maybe even a ceremony to prove that.
While William may be genuine when wanting to destroy the Queen's collection, the act for him to follow through is not easy as he would be destroying the Queen's collection, not his collection. Let's be serious, do you think the rest of the royal family alongside with historians, artifact admirer and other people within the 1% would allow an unproven member of the royal family to destroy years of British history? very unlikely.
But the prince's consistent move to oppose a family history of hunting is definitely bringing light and hope for us animal lovers and the animals who we stand up for.
