A great move from Zimbabwe's officials just put up an across the board ban on hunting in the immediate area where Vecil was killed. Travellers are not permitted to hunt ANY lions, leopards and elephants. The only hunts permitted are those that have authroization from the head of wildlife authority and accompanied by a parks staff.
Not everyone is happy with this new ban however, Emmanuel Fundira, chairman of the Safari Operators Association of Zimbabwe, said his association could lose business as a result of the new hunting ban, but added that the measures were necessary to protect wildlife.
"Hunting brings in no less than $40 million a year," he said.
